Mayor Otis Wallace and all four members of the Florida City Commission choose Joe Garcia as their champion for Congress
Miami, FL- Today, Former Congressman Joe Garcia announced the endorsements of Florida City Mayor Otis Wallace, Vice-Mayor Sharon Butler and the rest of the Florida City Commission.
“It’s an honor to have the support of Mayor Wallace and so many dedicated Florida City leaders,” said Joe Garcia, Candidate for Florida’s 26th Congressional District. “We are all working to achieve the same goal, improving the lives of South Florida families. We will continue to work together to bring good jobs, clean water and safety from gun violence to our community.”
Wallace and Butler recently joined Garcia for a campaign canvass and cookout event in Florida City. Although Commissioners Avis Brown, Eugene Berry and R.S. Shriver were unable to attend, they asked the Mayor to deliver a message of support on their behalf during the event.

“When Joe Garcia says he is there for the community, he is there,” said Wallace. “Joe doesn’t just say he is with you; he is on the front lines working with our city to bring real solutions. He gave Florida City a voice in Washington and we need to send him back to Congress.”
In Congress, Garcia opened an office right in Florida City and handled hundreds of constituent cases on behalf of South Dade residents in need of help. He helped make college more affordable for students by successfully cutting college loan rates in half, and stood up to Republicans when they tried to repeal Obamacare and make deep cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
